About Anders Rindom

Born 29 August 1952 in Copenhagen.
Lives and works in London.
1978 The School of Conservation. Copenhagen. Degree.
1980-84 The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art, the School of Visual Arts.
1986-88 The Slade School of Fine Art, University College London, post graduate diploma.
The training was supported by grants from the British Council and Knud Hoejsgaards fond.
A large-scale survey of work in 2000 at the Buckinghamshire County Museum brought, temporarily all exhibition activity to a standstill. The activity was only resumed in 2009, now more often than not in collaboration with other artists under the umbrella of Painted with sound. This loosely bound collective is still functioning, even if it at the moment is only as a registered publisher.

Projects

Project: Arch 350‘. Ermine mews, Laburnum Street. London. An Installation of paintings and sound with Tom Hopkins. Documented on DVD, running time 29:51 min. 2009. The project was supported by Space, an east London Arts Charity.

To Dust‘. B/W film with Tom Hopkins and Matthew Hawkins. Published on DVD (with an a booklet) , running time 50.01 min. 2011. Independent production by Paintedwithsound, commercially available through Amazon.co.uk and the U.K. bookseller Waterstone’s. Has been purchased by The Poetry Library at the Southbank Centre and included in the sound archive at the British Library.

Alla Turca’. (2012) Union Works (upper floor), 60 Park Street, London SE1 9AR.2012. An installation of cotton rags, reliefs and polychrome sculpture (Anders Rindom) with sound (Tom Hopkins). A film documenting the installation, with photographs from the two travels (Anders Rindom) that prompted it has been released online in 2014 on the Painted with Sound website; running time 19:20 min. The installation was carried out with support from Caroline Jones and Illuminate Productions.

Timepieces’. (2013) Project room at Berliner-Liste, Berlin. An installation of twenty composite paintings (Anders Rindom) with a sound score (Tom Hopkins). A limited edition folder documenting the project has been issued by Painted with Sound and are available through Amazon.co.uk..Curated by dr.Peter Funken and supported by Berliner-Liste.

The Suitors’. (2015) A project for the bi- annual exhibition ‘Sculpture by the Sea’, installed at Tangkrogen by Aarhus in Denmark. The project was prepared at The Danish Arts Workshop in Copenhagen, but in part assembled on site. It was completed thanks to extensive support, both practical and financial from the organizers of the exhibition. A short film by Conor O’Callaghan about the project has been completed, but not yet released.

Two large scale projects and a modest, time based piece.’ (2017). Art in Perpetuity Trust gallery. Harold Wharf, 6 Creekside, Deptford, London SE8 4SA. A presentation in a gallery setting of two projects: ’Over Sø og Land’ and ‘Foraars Fabrikken’ plus a small time based piece titled ‘En Juleleg’ with live music by the double bass player Henrik Jensen.The presentation was made possible thanks to support from Grosserer F. L. Foghts Fond. The realisation of ‘Foraars Fabrikken’ took place- by and large- during an extended residency at the Danish Arts Workshop in Copenhagen.

Tinted Flowers‘ (2023). A book project’ published by Painted with Sound that combines a written text with reproductions of painted images. It was made ready for publication with the help of Walter W. Hutton (graphic design) and Peter Hope (repro photography) and printed in an edition of 500 copies. The booklet is 36 pages long and is printed on white Munken paper. The folded pages which measure 21.1x 26.2 centimetre are held together by Singer sewing. Each individual copy is supplied in a clear Cello bag. The book contains 9 pages of text, 16 colour plates (full page), two monochrome plates (also full page) and 3 smaller b/w plates. The book has on request to the publishers been added to the following collections: The British Library, The Bodleian Library (Oxford University), The Cambridge University Library, National Library of Scotland, National Library of Wales, Trinity College Dublin. Publication date: 2nd of October 2023.

The photograph project titled: Disposed Pennies (2016) was shown at a pop-up gallery situated within the restrooms belonging to a bar and restaurant in Copenhagen.
