“Some of the finest human qualities I can think of are humility, courage, and integrity. They are not only attractive, but also much needed virtues if you want to observe and comment on life’s subtle nuances. My own work, which you will encounter on this site have a tendency to flicker from one fascination to the next: changing medium, format and tone of voice as I see fit. I prefer to engage with places and other people whenever possible, in the belief that conversation is never an overrated art. So when you look at my efforts, I do not expect praise or pity. My efforts may seldom, if ever reflect the qualities I just mentioned and for that I make no excuses. If as a consequence you struggle to find a space for them in your life, I can’t pretend it will not bother me. My only advice would be for you to focus on the inept and possibly silly aspects of the work. It may lower your guard sufficiently for us to strike a conversation and from that, who knows what may grow?”
